  After only 2.5 years our $40k system has completely stopped working. HPE claims that the inverters on our system are no longer functioning and that it will take approximately a month (if not more) to obtain the parts necessary to repair. Looking at the reviews posted on Yelp, this appears to be an issue multiple other exiting HPE customers are experiencing. We called HPE and spoke to someone named Jim who blamed the issue on SCE and refused to either (1) give a firm date on when the repairs would be initiated, or (2) confirm that HPE in fact did not have the parts in stock, rather than reserving such parts for money-making "new" installations, leaving existing customers in the lurch. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

  From my first contact with Chad through the entire process, Hot Purple came through. The kept me notified when supply problems delayed battery installation and Katie helped with rebate. A big expense but well worth it with no electric bills. It was amazing before the battery and now even better. I am glad to have gone local with a company that responds. Every technician who worked at my home was great.

  Early this year I decided to start researching solar panels for my home. Around the same time I heard a catchy commercial for Hot Purple Energy on a local radio station. The owner's daughter narrates the commercial, and it is really well done. So I researched Hot Purple Energy (HPE) and some other solar installers. I found that HPE is locally owned and they had consistently good reviews everywhere I looked. I eliminated other companies that were not locally owned or if I recognized their name from having them cold calling me at my front door (grrr).

  The problem appears to be that because of the volume of inverter failures [I have now had at least 5 other Solaredge users in the area of identical problems with the Solaredge inverters provided by a number of other installers] that Solaredge which is aware of the problem does not have a sufficient number of replacement inverters in their inventories throughout the country and is experiencing delays in getting upgraded units from either Isreal or China.

  Wow! I am so impressed with Hot Purple Energy's customer service. I used SunRun on a different property, and my experience has been SO MUCH BETTER!! Jim Cain has been our main contact at Hot Purple Energy, and I am so appreciative. I purchased a home that already had solar installed by HPE, and Jim worked diligently and patiently to transfer the ownership and account to me. He was quick, responsive and so helpful. Once transferred, I was able to set up an appointment with their technician, Kelley. Kelley was without a doubt one of the best service technicians i have ever had. She was so professional, hard-working, and went above and beyond to complete our service. She was also early!! She found an issue with our system (under warranty), and Jim and Kelley have been working hard to help with this process. Alondra in the office also helped me to quickly schedule one of my free solar panel cleanings! I was thankful to Kelley for letting me know about this. Overall, I highly recommend this company!   I'd been a solar energy user prior to my move to the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area) in 2021. So when I moved, I knew I wanted to have solar added to my home here. I spoke with several solar companies but most would not work with my electricity provider, Imperial Irrigation District (IID), for the interconnect to my solar system. However one company, Hot Purple Energy (HPE), said no problem so we moved forward.

  I first reached out to Hot Purple Energy after I bought my home approximately 3 years ago and received an initial quote after a site visit from their salesperson. I was surprised I received no follow up call or anything further until I recently when I called and requested an updated proposal. I did not initially get competing quotes from other leading solar installation contractors but decided to do so after discovering some concerning issues, lack of transparency and non-disclosures. The system HPE configured for my home was over estimated, added several thousand dollars to the cost and would not likely be recouped by wholesale energy sell backs to the local utility.

  We've been working with Hot Purple Energy since 2014, including solar and battery installs - and have recommended HPE to numerous friends and colleagues. They've provided solid products and service, stood by their work, and have always been responsive when issues or special circumstances (including a lengthy remodel process) came up. Specifically, Brian, Reuben, Nick, Jim and Nate have ensured year after year that equipment is maintained, monitoring is in place, and any issues that arise are addressed immediately.

  Joshua was so very helpful and generous with his time and expertise. He came to the house fully prepared and explained a very detailed system, tailored to our home and current energy consumption. He listened to what we wanted and why and gave us exactly that. Hot Purple has a reputation for being excellent at what they do while being straight forward and honest. They certainly lived up that.   We had our solar system installed by Sungevity, who a year later went bankrupt and closed. Our Inverters kept going down, and we called Renova many times over the course of three years, and they were never able to fix the problem. Just kept charging us for each visit. We then called Hot Purple Energy in Aug. of 2020. They fixed the issue right away, and we have not had any issues since. Very happy with their knowledge and expertise!

  I cannot say enough good things about Hot Purple Energy. After much research and interviews with other companies, I decided to go with HPE, and I am very glad I did. Having recently purchased my home, I was very concerned with quality of installation and the aesthetics of the panel layout, and HPE exceeded my expectations on all fronts. From my initial contact with Caitlyn, my sales rep, through arranging financing and all the way through the team install to handling all the Edison paperwork, HPE was totally top-notch and thorough. I was also very impressed with the workmanship of the crew, and how well-informed everyone was and their ability to answer my many questions. The entire HPE team was very friendly and accessible and kept me up-to-date throughout the entire procedure so the job flowed very smoothly. Everything is up and running now, sun-powered.   HPE is a great company with high quality people. They are the only contractors that we've hired and never had an issue with their work. Emily Maldonado was our sales representative and was a tremendous help to us. Their system out-performed their best projections. We just passed the 12 month anniversary and we have $789 credit from Edison. That's retail and we'll only be paid wholesale, but at least we're not paying Edison!

  Everything went as promised...daily updates on what would be done that day. Great customer service. Had used another local company at a different house 4 years ago and was pleased. However, Hot Purple was superior. And significantly less expensive than the former company. In addition, Hot Purple explained why they were superior, given the specifics of the desert weather demands.

  In 2013, we were encouraged by some friends to install a competitor's panel system, but later learned these friends would earn a "bonus" if we bought the competitor's product. We contacted the competitor & they offered a "deal" that would allow us to purchase out-of-date panels for a significantly reduced price (which would produce less power than current panels) - and, naturally said installation would require MORE panels than they originally quoted (costing more over all). Instead, we selected HPE, and purchased fewer high-powered panels that ended up providing MORE power than the competitor's installation would have.

  Hot Purple Energy installed my solar system almost 5 years ago and they've been a great provider -- even monitoring the performance over all these years. Since I'm clueless about these technical things, I would be lost without them. On the occasions when my internet goes down (all too frequent an occurrence in Palm Springs), some one from the office will call me so I can re-boot the system so they can continue monitoring the system's performance. In fact, the system has performed consistently as promised. The owner, Nate, and his team, are diligent and committed to their customers and the Coachella Valley community.

  I had solar installed but another dealer last May 2016. I began to have problems with roof leaks. After attempting to work with the SunPower for their help with the leaks, I finally gave up and called Hot Purple Energy. I was fortunate enough to catch Nate Otto in the office. Nate was very sympathetic to my plight. He put me in touch with David Blankenship who then contacted SunPower to help resolve the leaks and continual damage as the rains were more frequent and heavy. They were hands on and very professional. I cannot say enough about the people at Hot Purple. I would absolutely recommend them over and over. Thank you Nate Otto and David Blankenship!

  In a world where professionalism is practically a long lost dream, I am so glad that I selected Hot Purple Energy as my solar energy provider. We just built a new house so we dealt with a lot of contractors. I wish all of them came even close to the great experience we had with Hot Purple. Their focus on a good customer experience is rare. We talked to a couple of solar installers but were impressed with the fact that Hot Purple takes great pride in their work as installers and have a goal to be the best. The equipment is all top of the line. The aesthetics were well thought out; can't even tell we have solar on the roof. And the integrity of the roof was not something we ever have to worry about. They are careful, experienced contractors. They are on time clean up, answer questions, provide information and go beyond to make sure the system is functioning optimally. And, I am confident that there ever is a problem, I can count on Hot Purple to address it. I don't write Yelp reviews often, but felt it only fair to take a few minutes of my time after Hot Purple went out of their way for us.

  In a world where professionalism is practically a long lost dream, I am so glad that I selected Hot Purple Energy as my solar energy provider. I was very happy that I went with Hot Purple Energy to install my solar system. Having a mid century modern home, the ascetics were a major concern since the house was designed by Don Wexler. The clean lines on the roof were imperative. HPE did a mock install for me to show me exactly how the solar panels would look from the street - I could not see them. They did a measurement of tracking the sun and told me which trees I needed to trim back in order to gain the most from my system. Everyone was very helpful; they kept the schedule promised and worked with my roofing company to install the footers under the foam roof installation. I cannot speak highly enough about HPE. Even after the sale was made, they still helped me in figuring out my billable electricity for my vacation renters. I highly recommend Hot Purple Energy.

I lived here in this area for almost 10 years and for 10 years I have been researching Solar energy, both with SCE and with Solar Companies. I have also had numerous quotes done over the past 8-10 years. All were extremely crazy and based on our Edison bills and our usage, it would have taken about 20 years to break even. HPE recently completed installation of 32 solar panels on the roof of my home in Palm Springs. If I could give them 10 stars I would. From beginning to end this has been among the best experiences with a contractor I've ever had. Everyone on staff is very friendly and professional. Norman first met with me to discuss my options and was very transparent about how many panels I would need and the details of the pricing structure and potential savings. HPE handled all the paperwork, including what I had to file with my HOA. The work started even earlier than I expected and was completed ahead of time. The work crew was top-notch - friendly, efficient, and professional. Regular email communications from the office kept me informed about what would happen when. They installed industry leading panels and an inverter from SunPower (25 year warranty) with 24/7 online monitoring of performance. Are they the cheapest solar company? No, often but you get what you pay for. I really appreciate the fact that HPE is a local company involved in many Coachella Valley community efforts. Everyone there cares about the quality of their work. Bottom line - HPE is the best, and I know you will be as happy with them as I am.
